Social interactions are one of the greatest issues for a child that has aspergers syndrome. Actually, a lot of parents in fact catch on eventually once they start looking at their child’s reaction to social situations. Usually a child with Aspergers syndrome will have a hard time comprehending instructions from an individual.
They are not sure, sometimes, who is talking in groups, or they can’t differentiate between different nonverbal (face) cues in people. Usually forming relationships and friendships become more and more of a pain than everything else.
Usually a child with Asperger syndrome may have a low need to share a discovery or experience. For instance, if a child paints a picture that he or she really likes, usually they would keep it to themselves and not share it with anybody else like most children would do. Just remember the last time your nephew or son or grandson drew a picture. You perhaps have 15 on your fridge right now! Children with Asperger syndrome might not be like this; rather they would hide it away or throw it away so that no one else will be able to see it. This makes sense when you think about it.
What do you do when your non-Asperger syndrome child gives you a picture they drew or painted? You praise them, you embrace them, you squeal a little bit! Kids with Asperger syndrome are smart! They don’t like this. They do not like loud noises, being touched or being in the spotlight so to speak. The kid could sometimes become obsessive with an object. For example they might be constantly amused by small toy trucks or little toy cars. They might become so obsessive with them that they’ll sit for hours and watch the way the wheels turn against the floor.
The kid might try expressing how amazing he thinks it is, but it might seem that as soon as he opens his mouth to speak he gets stage fear. Take the car away, and he would probably be very upset. While lots of children are like this, it’s somehow different with him. It’s, to a degree, an abnormal reaction!
Even a very small change in the life-style of a kid with aspergers could mean a major difference. To learn how to manage when you have a child with Aspergers syndrome visit, http://parentingaspergerscommunity.com/
